52 Les Paul

1952 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop
The first time the now famous Les Paul shape was introduced to earth. Purchased at Vintage N Rare along with my '54, they both feature in issue 424 of Guitarist magazine. I call this one 'The Knot' due to its rather prominent knot on its side.
As far as history on the guitar goes, I havent found anything abut it pre 2013 when Andrew Yorke (CEO of Chicago Music Exchange) picked it up at an auction in the states, he then got Joe Glaser to fit his custom trapeze bridge which works with the neck break angle that these guitars suffered from in 1952 with the wrapunder bridge. It was then also refretted by famed luthier and master of vintage guitars Tim Schroeder. At some point the truss rod cover was broken and replaced too. (All original parts are in the case)
In 2013 it was bought to UK by Lawson guitarist Joel Peat, who enjoyed its beastly tone until I was lucky enough to get my hands on it.
This is a once in a lifetime guitar, due in part to extreme playability for a 52, and also cause its sound still makes me smile everytime it gets plugged in.
